Tanzania

So I just got back from a month in Tanzania and it was amazing!!!  Possibly not everyones cup of tea, but I sure enjoyed my time there.  It was a crazy experience to be the minority, unsafe in certain areas and at other times, wined and dined.  For the most part, everyone we met were incredibly wonderful people.  Very helpful and fun to hang out with.

Rob and I pretty much worked for 3 weeks straight with a few free days at the end.  We were busy teaching wilderness first aid and wilderness first responder courses for the first two weeks then spent the next on Kilimanjaro helping out with guide training.  While the guides were doing their thing, Rob and I were running medical scenarios to challenge them.  Despite horrible weather on the mountain, we still had a great time.  Due to the weather though, our time was rushed and we tagged the summit the morning of our third day.  The rapid ascent hurt a little due to altitude, but overall I was very happy with how my body responded.

After the mountain, Rob and I quickly organized gear and then repacked for safari.  One of our students who is a hunting guide, invited us to his camp near the Serengeti.  This was one of the best experiences of my life.  The 6 hour drive to camp, tours around camp, and the drive back were filled with most of the animals I have seen in National Geographic and Masai people.  It was truly a spectacular scene.  One that I feel everyone should get a chance to see in there lives.
